As the Purchasing Lead, you will be responsible for managing and controlling all purchasing activity across multiple sites, ensuring stock levels meet ongoing customer demand. You’ll work closely with suppliers to secure the best value without compromising on quality or service, while also collaborating with on‑site teams including sales, finance, warehouse and stock control. This is a hands‑on role within a fast‑paced environment, where being present, supportive, and an effective communicator is essential.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee and manage the end‑to‑end purchasing process across multiple sites. Maintain optimal stock levels, working closely with the Stock Controller to avoid shortages or overstock. Build, develop and sustain strong relationships with existing and new suppliers. Negotiate pricing, terms and service levels with a focus on quality, reliability and delivery performance. Work effectively within a buying group structure, utilising frameworks and opportunities where possible. Collaborate closely with sales, finance, warehouse and operations teams to ensure smooth day‑to‑day activity.

Person Specification

Experience in a purchasing or procurement role within a product‑led or building materials environment. Strong negotiation skills with the ability to drive value while maintaining quality standards. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; approachable, proactive and supportive. Ability to work effectively across multiple sites, managing varied priorities. Experience working within a buying group (desirable but not essential). A team‑oriented mindset with a hands‑on attitude and willingness to help wherever needed.

What’s on Offer

You’ll be joining a highly regarded, long‑standing business with an excellent reputation for quality, service and strong values. This is an on‑site role that offers stability, a supportive team environment and the opportunity to make a real impact across multiple locations. You’ll play a vital part in ensuring the smooth running of the operation, while benefiting from a workplace culture built on collaboration, trust and respect.
