What happens when you take a 15-year-old out of the classroom and put them into a recruitment consultancy for a week? We decided to find out. Seb joined us at Inc Consulting for a week of work experience, getting the chance to see recruitment from the inside, sit in on candidate interviews and client meetings, meet senior finance leaders, learn about different careers and even turn the tables on our team by interviewing them for our Inc Insights articles. We asked him what he thought of it all – and, importantly, whether his view of the world of work had changed.

It's fair to say employment law has been one of the hottest topics this year. Whilst the Employment Rights Act 2025 brings changes across a number of areas, one of the biggest changes still to come is the overhaul of ordinary unfair dismissal, due to take effect from 1 January 2027. Our recent Inc Consulting X Sheffield and District Student Society Social at Club de Padel went exactly how we’d hoped. The event sold out in minutes, with 60 aspiring accountants and finance professionals from across Sheffield coming together for an evening of padel, pizza, and a break from the day job and studies.  We had attendees from a wide range of firms across the region - meeting others going through the same journey, building relationships, and none of the usual awkward networking.  Since the event, we’ve had a lot of interest from both Partners and ACA students asking the same thing: what is S&DCASS, and why should my team or I get involved?  So, we sat down with Korresia MacGregor, Chair of the Sheffield & District Chartered Accountants Student Society (S&DCASS), to get her take.
