About the Role
Remember when producing your first set of management accounts felt like a big achievement?
These days, you’ve probably got that side of the job well under control.
The accounts go out. The next month starts. Rinse and repeat.
The challenge isn’t producing the numbers anymore. It’s finding a business that wants to do more with them.
This profitable, £20m turnover service sector business is growing by 20% year on year. It’s reached the point where better financial information will play a big part in what happens next.
Which services are most profitable? Why do margins vary between contracts? Where are the opportunities to improve performance and drive further growth?
Which is where you come in.
Reporting into the Finance Director and working closely with operational managers, you’ll develop more insightful reporting that helps people understand what’s driving performance, make better decisions and identify opportunities for growth.
You’ll also lead a small finance team, take ownership of month-end and management accounts and improve the processes and controls behind them.
There’s plenty of scope to introduce new ideas, improve how things work and help build a finance function that keeps pace with the business. You’ll just need the appetite to take the lead and make things happen.
You’ll need a good track record in a similar role, but just as importantly, the curiosity to understand how a business works and the confidence to get involved beyond Finance.
If producing the numbers has become the easy part of your job, perhaps it’s time for a more interesting challenge?
