Job Overview

As an Underwriter, you’ll play an important role in ensuring lending applications are assessed and processed accurately and efficiently. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assessing and processing 1st and 2nd charge lending applications, ensuring they meet agreed lending criteria and company standards.
  • Managing applications throughout the underwriting and packaging process, ensuring information and documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Completing DIPs, arranging valuations and preparing cases for submission to underwriting.
  • Liaising directly with brokers and customers, providing regular updates, answering queries and delivering a high standard of service throughout the process.
  • Managing and prioritising your own caseload, working to agreed SLAs and keeping relevant stakeholders updated on case progression.
  • Supporting new lending referrals and working closely with colleagues to ensure applications progress smoothly and efficiently.

Person Specification

We’re looking for someone who enjoys being hands-on, takes pride in doing a great job and will fit well into a close-knit team. Ideally, you will have:

  • Previous experience within lending, underwriting or packaging, with exposure to 1st and/or 2nd charge lending particularly beneficial.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to review information thoroughly and identify discrepancies or missing information.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage and prioritise a varied workload effectively.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach, taking ownership of cases and following them through to completion.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the confidence to build positive relationships with brokers, customers and colleagues.
  • A real team-player mentality and a great personality – approachable, adaptable and happy to get stuck in and support the wider team when needed.

On Offer

Offering a salary of £32,000 per annum, this is a fantastic opportunity to join a friendly, family-owned business that genuinely supports and encourages development and career progression. You’ll benefit from hybrid working and no weekend work, alongside 22 days’ holiday plus bank holidays (increasing with service), the option to buy and sell holidays, pension, life assurance, income protection, virtual GP, EAP, wellbeing initiatives and a range of additional employee benefits.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Interim Management Accountant to join a well-established manufacturing business in Hull on a 5-month fixed-term contract until Christmas. This is a hands-on role requiring someone who can hit the ground running, quickly become part of the team and provide immediate support during a busy period, including year-end, audit and a major finance system implementation. We're looking for a proactive individual who enjoys taking ownership, using their initiative and adding value from day one. Job Description Produce accurate monthly management accounts, including journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations. Support year-end activities and work closely with external auditors throughout the audit process. Play a key role in the implementation of a new finance/ERP system, supporting testing, process improvements and embedding new ways of working. Prepare meaningful financial analysis and management information to support business decision-making.
